Explorations in the Painted Hills

I was on my way to Prosser by way of Boise so I did what anyone would do, I drove through the middle of Oregon to see the Painted Hills (if you look at a map it is not the way to go, logically). I have never been there and it was on my list of things to see. I got there around lunch time, scarfed down my PB&J, then drove around to each of the attractions. The signs state at the hills to leave any fossils that you find, I did not see a trace of a fossil. Non the less, it was still pretty neat to see. Random hills just popping up in shades of red and green. The soil cracked evenly across as if it was drawn instead of a natural part of nature. Was it worth the amount of driving I did? Probably not. It could have waited until it was on my way to somewhere closer by, but when you feel the need to go exploring you go.

Do not collect the fossils! I did not see any no matter how hard I looked from the other side of the fence.

The first Painted Hills attraction you come to. It is by far the most impressive one. I took this with a zoom lens from the road right as you enter the area.
